How long do kangaroos keep their young in their pouch?

The baby stays in the pouch 24/7 for 3 months. But the mama ‘roo (doe) is pretty much always pregnant. All her life, she is rarely without three offspring: an embryo in the womb, a joey in her pouch, and a more mature one, like a toddler, by her side.

When Kangaroos are born, they stay in their mother’s pouch for two months. After that, they step out of the pouch for the first time, but don’t permanently leave it until they are eight to ten months old.
