How long do elephants live for?

Most elephants can live to be over 70 years of age sometimes.  That’s assuming that they are not poached.

Some research supports a 60-year life expectancy for elephants, on average.  Others have the average as high as 80 years, for domesticated elephants.  Further investigation reveals a span of anywhere from 30-80 years … quite a large spread!  Domesticated elephants live longer than elephants in the wild, and interestingly African elephants have a much shorter life expectancy than Asian elephants, despite (or perhaps due to) their larger size.

Interesting side-note: elephants can re-produce into their fifties!
