How long do earthworms live for?

    Researchers have studied the lifespan of the lumbricids earthworm, the segemented worms that come from Eurasia and North America.  The longest lifespan of the lumbricid was nine years.  The Eisenia, or the redworm useful for composting material, had a lifespan of 4.25 years, and the longest one living for 8.73 years.
