Generally crop rotation is done in three or four year cycles, but some crops are more depleting than others. You should maintain a balance of heavy feeders, light feeders, and soil improvers. Some heavy feeders include onions, tomatoes, and lettuce. Light feeders include dill, radishes, and carrots. Peas, basil, sage, and other legumes will improve your soil and should be included in the rotation as well.
