How long can you grow crops in one area before you need to repair the soil?

Generally crop rotation is done in three or four year cycles, but some crops are more depleting than others. You should maintain a balance of heavy feeders, light feeders, and soil improvers. Some heavy feeders include onions, tomatoes, and lettuce. Light feeders include dill, radishes, and carrots. Peas, basil, sage, and other legumes will improve your soil and should be included in the rotation as well.

Yes, I was going to say it depends on what you’re planting. But carlymfiske has more info than that!
