How long can a whale hold its breath?

a Killer whale can hold their breath for about 10 minutes, but I found that holding their breath is not the key to why they can stay under water for so long. It’s how they conserve oxygen. Many marine mammals reduce their heart rate and carry oxygen in their blood among other things.

Sperm whales can hold their breath for 20 minutes to even an hour or more. Other whales can hold their breath for 10 minutes to half and hour.
