Both male and female African elephants can grow long tusks, reaching up to 10 feet (3 meters) long, and the tusks can weigh up to 200 pounds (90 kg). But, for Asian elephants, only the male will grow long tusks. Females of the Asian elephant species have very small tusks or no tusks at all. Male Asian elephant tusks can be just as long as African elephant tusks, but are usually skinnier and lighter, weighing up to 86 pounds (39 kg).
The tusks on the male african bull elephant can grow up to 7 ft in span, and weigh 200 lbs each. Asian bull elephants tusks can grow about the same length, except it weighs only 100 lbs.
