How is climate change linked with consumerism?

Continued and increased consumerism is considered by many to directly affect climate change because the manufacturing and consumption of goods using nonrenewable and nonbiodegradable materials releases harmful chemicals in the air and also creates more waste. This may result in global warming and the diminishment of natural habitats.
