There are different types of hydrogen fuel cells, but the cells that are built for automobiles (Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells) are about the size of an average printer. Fuel cells used for power generation can be much larger (i.e., comparable in size to an air conditioner unit or even a compact car), and those small fuel cells used for laptops, etc. are smaller.
