Railroads are a very important form of land transportation. They allow traveling long distances with better fuel efficiency and lower pollution than cars – and with faster, too, in case of high-speed trains. Commuter and rapid transit trains are particularly important, as they reduce heavy traffic in cities. Cargo trains are very economic and energy efficient – especially with larger amounts of cargo moved over longer distances. So building up railroad infrastructure is definitely a good idea.
