How important are healthy ecosystems in fighting climate change?

Well, it could easily be argued that if all of the earth’s ecosystems were healthy there would not be a threat of climate change. A healthy ecosystem is essentially a balanced ecosystem–one in which the predator and prey are in proportion and everything co-exists as it does naturally. This would mean enough trees to create enough oxygen, and a general balance that does not exist on our overpopulated and overused planet. Balancing our ecosystems could be a very important step toward battling climate change.
