Solar panels should actually not become hot, even in the sun. When this occurs the efficiency of the panel is reduced. Solar panels operate off of light, not heat.
The temperatures of solar panels usually stay below 25 degrees Celsius. This is because the nominal voltage of the panels decreases as temperatures increase. If the panel reaches temperatures above 50 degrees Celsius, the total voltage may decrease by as much as 17%.
