Tigers are keystone species. When eliminated numbers of animals they prey on, antelope for example, increase. Many times, this can effect the ecosystems; causing erosion and decreased amount of food for other animals. Its presence impacts many other members of the ecosystem, and when the population begins to decrease or even disappears, there can be great consequences for the ecosystem.
