How has the gulf recovered from the oil spill?

Permission has been granted for fishing activities to resume in the Gulf of Mexico. However, scientific studies on the oil spill’s effects on marine and wetland wildlife, water quality, and coastal sediment are still being carried out. Yet, fear of seafood contamination is injuring the fishing economy of the South. Wetlands losses and dead zones resulting from the oil spill are also a major problem, and the full effects aren’t yet known.
