The economic recession has helped the environment by forcing people to consume less. Gas prices shot up so people bought less gas, started buying smaller cars, started using public transportation, and started traveling less. People are much more conservative about wasting heat while the price of oil continues to rise. People have also started buying more used clothes, more vintage, and basically trying to spend less and save more. People are living more economically and it helps their wallet in the long run as well as the environment.
