Much the same way the growth of any middle class would hurt the environment- as the middle class increases they need more living space as well as more goods. Land is set aside for creating housing, which is mostly large apartment complexes in China. Companies must manufacture more goods to keep up with the demands of the middle class as well. Since China’s middle class is so large, it requires a lot to help supply meet demand.
