Glass must first be sorted by color. Then the glass is crushed into tiny pieces called cullet. Once it is in cullet form, contaminants including metal, paper, and ceramic are removed using magnetic fields and screens. Lastly, the cullet is melted down. To produce the final color, various chemicals are added that effect the colored glass in different ways to produce the desired color of the final product. The glass is molded into a new shape. Recycling does not decrease the quality of the glass so it can be recycled over and over again.
