It is very feasible. Green homes can be built for minimal cost. Since Africa gets a lot of sun, putting a white roof on the house to reflect heat can drastically reduce the temperature of the interior without the need for air conditioning. Also, solar ovens can be used outside so that the family does not need to burn any fuel while cooking. This can save the family money (or time spent gathering wood) in the long-run. So, a poor family might be able to take out a small loan for a green home and then reap great rewards.
