Since the mid 1700s, the pH of the world’s oceans’ has decreased from 8.179 to 8.104, a change of about -.075. This is a rate of -.0003 per year, which may not sound like a lot but can make a huge difference. Scientists also estimate that by 2050, the pH of the oceans will decrease another -.230 to about 7.95.
