During flood or inundation seasons, the Nile flows at approximately four knots, which is about 6.75 feet per second. This period generally spans the course of about three months (typically September to November), and the rest of the year, the Nile flows much more slowly, at around 2 knots (or about 3.7 feet per second).
There are many class 5 rapids along the Nile.
