Candles burn at different speeds for a couple of different reasons. The main factors that determine how fast a candle burns is the size of the wick and the type of wax used to make the candle.
The larger wicks compared to smaller ones burn faster. Also multiple wicks in one candle will burn faster than one wick in the same size candle.
Wax is another big factor. Harder waxes such as beeswax burn slower than soft waxes in some candles.
Most standard 2oz candles burn from 8-12 hours. Some larger candles can last for over 30 hours.
