    The acceleration of a racehorse is called “turn of foot” and is a large indicator (sometimes more than top speed) of the potential of a racehorse to succeed.  The average acceleration for a trained quarterhorse is 13 meters per second, to a top speed of 20 meters per second or close to 50 miles per hour.  To read more, click the link below.
