Tigers are ambush predators, and as such they’re built for sudden bursts and speed and power. Tigers can hit 35-40 mph during these surprise attacks, but they cannot maintain it for long. Still, not too shabby for the world’s heaviest cat.
Tigers can run upwards of 35mph, on par with bears and lions. This speed is only achieved in short bursts right before the attack.
Tigers are very powerful and stealthy animals. They tend to stalk and ambush their prey by crouching and waiting for their prey and then pouching on their back. They will bring their prey to the ground and bite the neck to kill it. A Siberian tiger can run as fast as 50 mph over snow.
