How far out into the ocean do sea otters swim?

Studies show that sea otters will swim out to depths as deep as 100 meters.  They will only perform this task when foraging.  Also, males tend to swim to deeper depths than females. To reach the likes of these depths, sea otters must swim as far out as a mile from shore, though they still remain in the neritic zone.
