The nearest galaxy we have discovered thus far, the Canis Major dwarf galaxy, is 42,000 light years away from the center of the Milky Way, and 25,000 light years away from the solar system.
The closest galaxy to our Milky Way Galaxy is the Andromeda Galaxy, which is about 2.2 million light years away.
