How far inland do rivers have salt in them?

The point at which saltwater mixes with freshwater varies. Factors that influence this variable are the mean velocity downriver of freshwater and the tidal current velocity. If the tidal current velocity is higher, then the mixing zone will be pushed downstream. In other words, if waters are more turbulent, there will me more mixing and quicker as opposed to further down the river.
