How far into space can we see with a telescope?

While all our telescopes need to be studies for the secrets of the universe, astronomers in Hawaii believe they have seen the faintest light from a galaxy more than 13 billion years old. Scientists believe this is the oldest thing seen in the universe by man, claiming the galaxy was formed in the infancy of the universe following the big bang. This comes only years after upgrades to the Hubble telescope allowed scientist to also see what they claim to be galaxies from the early years following the creation of the universe.
