How far can radioactivity travel?

That depends on the type of radiation, there is a drastic difference between alpha and beta rays and other rays. Alpha and beta rays do not travel very far, and are blocked easily. Other rays, like gamma, and  x-rays travel much farther and are harder to block.

It depends on what kind of radiation you are talking about. You can calculate the distance traveled using the Inverse Square Law, where Intensity = I/d^2 (I represents intensity of the radiation). For more information, click on the cited source.
