How far can ash travel from a wild fire?

    Ash really doesn’t travel from wildfires like a volcano does. If there is strong wind the wildfire itself gets blown great distances and can skip over areas that have no fuel for it. Ash usually accumulates on the ground and is not heavily affected by the wind. Volcanoes however, can spew ash over large distances depending on how hard and what direction the wind is blowing. Mount Saint Helens spewed ash all the way to Oklahoma! This can be seen at the link below.
