Electric eels which are found in South America are capable of emitting a 500volt electric shock which can pass through as much as 28 feet of water to reach the target. 80% of an electric eels body is composed of organs designed to create and emit the electric shock. Thus, this shock is capable of harming large mammals including humans. They tend to live in the muddy parts of stagnant waters because their shock can travel farther through still water.
