Electricity produced from wind energy can be sent as far as any electricity generated from any other source like solar, geothermal, nuclear, natural gas or coal. The real problem is setting up transmission lines from the wind turbine(s) and integrating them with the electricity grid in the U.S. Right now power companies and utilities are trying to solve this problem as they contemplate building a sort of second-generation grid to handle our power needs.
