Water pollution has widespread effects on the environment and beyond. Polluted water can harm, injure, or kill sea and plant life, often causing some species to become endangered or extinct. Moreover, disease can be carried by water and transported from place to place, thus spreading it to various populations. Pesticide runoff and toxic waste make up a great deal of the chemicals that harm oceans, rivers, lakes, and other bodies of water, but it is also everyday trash that can hurt the ecosystem. It is important to remember that water pollution, like any other kind of pollution, affects the entire ecosystem and thus can cause harm to humans, landfaring animals, plants, and sea life alike.
