How earthquake-proof are brick structures?

A couple reasons that brick buildings usually don’t fare well in earthquakes are because of the non-flexing nature and weight of bricks. A building needs the ability to flex in an earthquake, and bricks resist flexing both because of the the non-elastic nature and the sheer weight of the bricks.
