Water vapor gets into the atmosphere through evaporation. The surface of liquid water, when warmed, turns from a liquid to a gas that is less dense than air, causing it to rise up into the atmosphere. Another way that is less common in nature is boiling. This is when the entire volume of water is heated to it’s boiling point (100 degrees Celcius) and is converted to water vapor gas.
