How does using a urinal save energy?

Waterless urinals are the new rage in green technologies. The reason these save energy (in addition to water) is because water used in any facility may require pumping to get it there. Pumps use energy, therefore you save energy by reducing the water use in urinals (and toilets for that matter). If you account for indirect energy use as well, energy is also saved because waterless urinals require a lot less maintenance. This means repair persons need not drive onsite and repair them. This will save transportation fuel. The link below explains just how green waterless urinals are.
