Food is not the enemy! Every category of food such as grains, dairy, vegetables, etc. are benefical in their own way. Certain foods in high quantities can be harmful to us like saturated fats and refined sugars. When you consume too much food or specifically foods that are high in calories, fats, and sugars, it causes weight gain and can also lead to high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and diabetes.
Too much bad food increases our risk of heart disease, high blood pressure, and contributes to obesity and diabetes. Obviously, eating healthier foods is better for your body. However, eating far too much of one thing is bad as well.Even something as healthy a soy can be harfmul, granded you eat way too much of it.
Too many calories, whether it be from fruit and vegetables or from Yodels and Doritos, will cause you to gain weight. For every 3500 calories you eat more than you expend (calories=energy), you will gain a pound. Overeating in a meal, or consistently overeating, can caues you to feel sluggish and lowering your metabolism. Also, too much of one kind of food can also cause you to suffer from vitamin poisoning, over exposure to toxins (for example, mercury in some kinds of fish).
