How does stretch wrap affect the landfills?

Stretch wrap has a negative effect on landfills in the same way that plastic bags do. Plastic in this form will take over 1,000 years to break down. When it does, it breaks into small pieces that can push into the soil and negatively impact nutrients in the soil and ground water. It can also be detrimental to animals and marine life. There is also so much plastic (about 8 billion pounds per year) of plastic used that hauling it has just as much of an impact on the environment. A good alternative is to bring your own cloth bags to the grocery store, buy reusable tpperware for your leftovers and reuse you plastic as much as possible!
