Just as solar panels use the sun, solar paint, developed by researchers at University of Notre Dame, is a compound that absorbs the sun’s energy and transfers that energy into a home. It uses quantum dots, which are power-producing nano-particles. The quantum dots which is titanium dioxide coated with either cadmium sulfide or cadmium selenide, are suspended in water-alcohol mixture then can be spread on any conductive surface. The technology is only yielding a 1 percent light-to-energy conversion while the typical conversion is 10 to 15 percent.
