Cigarette smoke is not often heard in association with pollution, but research shows that the pollution caused by smoking is comparable to that of diesel exhaust. Tobacco smoke adds pollution particles to the air as does any other source of air pollution, and can do so at ten times the capacity of that of a modern, eco-diesel engine.
