How does sedimentation effect the environment?

Sedimentation is a narual part of the rock cycle, which occurs when particles of rock or mineral which have been eroded are deposited in an evironment that is amicable (chemically or otherwise) towards the formation of a new rock with the particles.  Part of the sedmentation process includes the erosion of rocks, and sediments of the rocks can be polluting in water bodies.  New land forms are developed (such as sand bars in rivers and shorelines) due to the erosion and travelling of the sediments.
