Saudi Arabia has been drawing water from aquifers, however, they are able to draw less and less water from aquifers each year, suggesting they are running low. The Saudi government is stopping subsidies for agriculture and intends to import food in the future rather than attempting to grow it locally. In time it may be possible to replenish the aquifers with desalinated sea water.
