How does recycling work?

Recycling is the process of taking materials that would otherwise be discarded, and turning them into new products. Depending on location, recyclables can usually be collected in one of four ways: “curbside, drop-off centers, buy-back centers, and deposit/refund programs.” From there they go to the appropriate facility where the usable material can be harvested and cleaned. After this, the new recycled materials are put back on the market for consumption. Some uses of recycled materials include paper in newspapers, glass in asphalt and aluminum for soda cans.
