Basically when buying goods, you consider all the waste that your purchases create. For instance, instead of buying a tube of Quaker oats, buy a bag of bulk oats (you can even reuse the bag you used last time!). Another instance of precycling is thinking about the packaging of what you buy and whether it is recyclable. Manufacturers also can help precycle by choosing to reduce packaging, the Environmental Defense Fund has some good examples of how to precycle on its Web site.
