Population growth effects global warming by there being more people to consume energy and produce waste. The more people there are the bigger the problem can become.

The more people on the planet, the more people there will be pumping carbon into the atmosphere and contributing to global warming. Therefore, it’s a direct and possibly exponential correlation. On the other hand, population is growing fastest in less developed nations, which on the whole tend to have a smaller carbon footprint.

More people on the planet leads to more consumption and with that, waste production.  More people can also mean more carbon emissions and other pollutant emissions.
