By air (wind) and water (ocean currents).
Pollution is carried by high velocity air streams which span the Pacific Ocean. Scientists working with NASA are using satellite sensor capabilities that can track the 10 billion pounds of air-borne pollution flowing from East Asia to mainland North America every year.
This can not only be said for China, but other countries as well. I know that when Japan had the tsunamis and nuclear reactor meltdowns, the radiation traveled all the way to the United States through extremely strong wind currents. I remember reading that the radiation went as far as Las Vegas. Even though this didn’t pose as much of a health risk to the United States, it’s still amazing what can travel at such large distances.
