Plug-in-hybrid vehicles are vehicles containing an internal combustion engine, an electric motor, and a cord that can plug into any 120 volt outlet. It is essentially an electric vehicle with a gas engine backup. They can get up to 100 mpg. The cost of the electricity is equivalent spending about $1 per gallon of gas and has been proven to be cleaner energy as well (even if the electricity is supplied from a coal plant). They have different modes of operation allowing for the user to choose which mode fits best for they type of driving done most frequently (city, highway or suburban).
