How does a plasma cutter work?

  1. 0 Votes

Plasma cutters work by sending an electric arc through a gas that is passing through a constricted opening. The gas can be shop air, nitrogen, argon, oxygen. etc. This gas then heats up so much, it enters the 4th state of matter (solid, liquid, gas…then plasma). The gas is heated by the electric arc until it becomes plasma which is the cutting agent.
