How does overfishing effect small island nations?

Small island nations have long-relied on fishing to support their economies, so overfishing is severely affecting them economically. Large fishery companies are able to outfish small independent fishers, so they are effectively losing their economic livelihood in the face of overfishing. It’s a very serious problem, environmentally, with very measurable effects, economically.
