How does oil affect sea turtles?

  1. 0 Votes

Unlike dolphins, sea turtles do not avoid oily areas in the ocean. As air breathers, they must surface periodically and can inhale volatile organic compounds (VOCs). The may ingest the material directly as well as through their skin. This contact can result in respiratory distress and gastrointestinal problems.
