Excessive amounts of Nitrogen from agricultural sources effect humans in a very meaningful way. Nitrogen in waterways creates algae blooms which deplete the oxygen from ponds and other water-ways. This in turn starves the fish, creates offensive odors and decreases the bio-diversity of the pond. Excessive amounts of Nitrogen can also adversely affect ground water, which is a potential health hazard to any who drink it.
Increased nitrogen causes algae blooms which cause fish to die. Drinking water with increased nitrogen can also lead to adverse effects.
