Mistletow will find a host tree and send roots into the tree. Tapping into the water conducting tissue of trees, the mistletoe will absorb nutrients and water
Because the mistletoe takes water and nutrients from the three, it can slow the tree’s growth on the specific branch that it is attached to. Overall a ltitle bit of mistletoe on a large tree will not have much of an effect, but if there is too much mistletoe it can have a larger impact. It may reduce fruit yield, or make the tree less able to withstand wind.
